Description:
Work with SAH to develop the online clearinghouse on South Asian health information and resources.
Choose a specific health topic or population.
Compile a reference list with journal articles, news articles, and other publications.
Write highlights on selected articles
Each topic typically requires 3-4 months, depending on availability and proficiency of writers and editors. Total hours needed during project period, estimated to be 60 to 80 hours plus 1-2 hours per week for meetings and reporting.

Qualifications:
Experience/knowledge in research topic preferred
Knowledge and understanding of literature reviews
Excellent analytical and writing skills
Proficiency with library databases

Well organized with attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines and make informed decisions

SAH Project is seeking intern for Spring 2007. This positions are unpaid. Some travel costs covered.
Location: NJ, NY, candidates in other states will be considered to work remotely.
Start Date: Januay or February 2006
Description: Join SAH Project’s growing team this Spring 2007 and work on tasks that involve health promotion, research, non-profit management, website development, health communications, and other health initiatives.
Internships provide excellent opportunity for students seeking experience in non-profit organizations and minority health initiatives. Each student works closely with her or his supervisor to develop and complete internship goals, activities, and timeline.

Demonstrated understanding of public health and community health initiatives needed

Research & Development Associate

Start Date: As soon as possible.
Description:
SAH Project is seeking an energetic, self starter to assist with research and development; and work closely with the Board of Directors and Organizing Committee to inform health program development and fundraising initiatives. Person can take on range of project and time commentment is based on project deliverables. Some examples of projects may include:
Health Research & Writing
Assist in designing innovative South Asian health programs; provide input on program design and direction
Keep updated on health news, effective programs, and literature on health disparities and South Asian community
Attend, prepare for, and follow up on program planning meetings
Seek input for programs from advisors, board members, organizing committee, and other team members
Gather information and prepare summaries
Development Work
Coordinate grant proposals
Identify opportunities and creative approaches to fundraising
Research funding opportunities; develop and maintain a funding calendar
Assist in drafting, editing, and submitting proposals, funding reports, and other development materials.
Handle timely e-mail, telephone, and post mail communication
Qualifications
Grant and/or research writing experience helpful, but not necessary
Related experience preferred, (minority or immigrant health, South Asian community advocacy, etc.)
Knowledge of how to write summaries of literature review, to conduct literature searches a must, to correspond professionally, and to organize efficiently
