What is the purpose of sharing my story?
Share Your Story is an excellent opportunity to start hearing from people directly. It is important to learn about the health and well-being of South Asians in the United States. It’s helpful for community members to see that they are not alone or give readers a new perspective.
What can I submit?
You can voice your concerns, give us ideas, make recommendations, tell us what you think… Share a new perspective or an experience. Some examples:
- What does health mean to you?
- What have you learned from providing care in diverse communities?
- Have you had an experience (positive or negative) that you think others can learn from?
- What was it like to experience a health concern?
- How would you want to receive (or provide) better care and improve quality of life for yourself, your family, or your community (or your clients)?
How do I submit a story?
You can submit a story by completing the Share Your Story Submission Form. Some suggestions to get you started:
- Think about what you want to share
- Decide if you want to use your real name or a nickname, depending on your comfort level
- Review the form
- Write and edit your story beforehand, using Microsoft Word or Notepad. Copy and paste your text into the form when you're ready.
What happens after I submit my story?
Once SAH Project receives your submission, the story will be reviewed and approved. It may be edited for length and clarity. There may be times when SAH Project staff will have to decide not to use a story for the website.
Stories can also be used by SAH Project for purposes related to advocacy and education, such as print materials and other health promotion activities. Please be assured that SAH will respect your anonymity.
Why do I need a password?
A password is only necessary if, for any reason, you want to contact us and discuss your submission in detail. A password remains in SAH Project's database only. It is not published or used with your story.
Can I make changes to my story after I send it?
Typically, changes and edits cannot be made to stories after they have been submitted.
