About the Conference:
Services for children and adults are often unfamiliar to immigrant communities and to cultural factors that impact ways of supporting people with disabilities. As the South Asian population in the New Jersey region grows, it is crucial that to ensure affected families are aware of available services and supports to which they may be entitled and providers develop a better understanding for their needs.
Audience
· People Living with disabilities and their families · Providers of disability services in NJ · Advocates and leaders in the South Asian community
Goals:
- To help organizations and agencies who provide services and supports to people with disabilities and their families to develop a deeper understanding of South Asian communities in New Jersey.
- To help organizations and agencies develop services and supports that are culturally appropriate to the needs of South Asians with disabilities and their families.
- To help people with disabilities from the South Asian community in New Jersey, their families, and leaders from South Asian community organizations develop a better understanding of the services and supports available to them in New Jersey.
